traverse theatre research

Traverse theatre

Traverse theatre is when the stage is set
up in a traverse staging format. This is a type of theatrical stage which is predominantly on two sides facing towards each other. The stage is commonly known as alley or corridor stage.

In noughts and crosses we are going to use traverse staging. The reason why i think this a good layout for us to perform in because its like a long alley, this will put a effect on the performance as the play is based on a cold long and unequal society. There have been a lot of theatre shows that have used traverse theatre for example the derby playhouse community. This theatre production was established in 1991 . This play was about the gruesome events which took place in ww2. The level of conflict in the play suited traverse staging.

In my opinion traverse theatre is used when the storyline is about struggle and a high consistency of conflict .

FIFTH BLOG

Callum's Character profile
  • Name : Callum Mcgregor
  • Age : 16
  • Race : nought
  • what people think about him : Cross lover, Blanker ,amazing brave, intelligent ect.
  • what he thinks about himself : worthless, too good to be a nought ( not in a snobbish way) ect.
  • what he says about other people : oppressive, controlling, manipulative, rude, firm(in a good way).

My perspective of Callum:

  • Bags under his eyes
  • very hard/ cold facial gesure
  • depressed

  • scruffy(long hair)

FOURTH BLOG h/w2

Why should actors warm up their body and voice?

Actors should warm up their voice and body to  make there performance stronger. By warming up your body you rib cage opens out in order for you to project your voice towards the audience the best. We also need to exercise our voices so we can articulate our words and scripts to the best of our ability. By being able you to articulate your words properly means you can say the hardest tongue twisters with ease.

THIRD BLOG h/w1

How do the character's body postures help to inform you of their statues?

Characters help to inform you of their statutes because the method they put in place and their strategies. For example levels. Levels play a big part in when characters want to inform you of their status because a person on a low level , obviously has a lower status than a person who is walking upright and relaxed.

I can infer this because the starting image of the little clip was with callum look down on the ground. Also when sephy and callum where in the middle of a gun feud callum go to the floor very quick because his low statues background is used to scares. But on the other hand sephy was still standing up during the gun feud , bewildered because of her such high authority in society. That scene in the clips tell us the type of people sephy and callum are.

SECOND BLOG

lesson :2 blog3

In my previous drama session ( 12.9.14) we were focusing on projection. Ms lee gave us a various amount of strategies for us to project are voice with ease. what i learnt from that part of the session is that you have to have a lot of stamina to execute words with projection.Ms lee  also gave us a hard challenge,
which we had to multi task.

The second section of the lesson was to help us properly grasp the meaning and feeling of the characters from noughts and crosses were feeling. We were put in groups to perform still images from the little script given to us.

And after we perfected our still images. Ms Lee allowed us to change the still image scene to slow motion and we could say the script that was allocated for the scene. I really liked this activity because , the still image at a start of the play can make the audience have a clue what the play is about and to start of your scene well.

The picture below defines the power of still image.

skills audit

Skills audit

In this skills audit im going to outline my drama skills and abilities.
my targets for my experience at the brit school (theatre) is:

  • To use more explorative strategies in my acting. As i know already explorative strategies are key in drama because they form emotion e.g marking the moment , thought tracking , still image ect.
  •  I also think i need to improve on my drama mediums, for the reason that i have had a tiny bit of experience exploring them.
Apart from drama mediums and explorative strategies i think i am able to use the other drama techniques well.

The productions i've been in:
Sadly i haven't been in a lot of productions, though i have been in my year 6 productions and i'm not a shy performer .I am now hoping to be selected into productions at the moment ,so i can be experienced at performing infront people.
Those who inspired me to act:
aml ameen born and raised in london (camden)
aml ameen inspired me to act because he is a extremely controversial actor. I say this because he can act a nitty gritty london wannabe gangster in the film kidulthood. To execute a character  with full of emotion. ( the young butler, in the butler)
i deeply respect this actor as he can switch roles quite easily.
Films and tv shows aml ameen has had a acting role in :
